ENG BEE TIN - MUST TRY

June 4, 2016.
Binondo, Manila

So this could probably be the update Eng Bee Tin has indicated in their site updates last April.

The famous Chinese store, home of the hopia and Chinese Moon cakes, already has a restaurant in Binondo, Manila.

We had a chance to visit the branch near Binondo Church today and I must say it was all worth the effort going to the place. We were only supposed to buy Hopia and Siopao but upon finding that there already is a restaurant, why not try, right? :)

I really did not have the chance to take a photo of the place because we were really excited to eat. The place? It looks more of a local Chinese carinderias (if you know what I mean). All the restaurant helpers are Filipinos. You will be really impressed with how quick they are in attending to your needs once you get a table. On the second level of their restaurant is Cafe Mezzanine which is the airconditioned version of the place.

Upon settling in, we immediately asked Ate their best sellers so we ordered, Pata Tim, Sweet and Sour Pork and Wanton Noodles. See photos below. Sorry if I didnt take much effort in taking a photo because our table was too small for us.

If you like the taste, they have a fridge in the dining area where you see their stocks, you can even buy frozen sets of food aside from the traditional dimsums we normally see.

We also did order Halo-halo for dessert and it was great! You can even ask for more ingredients in case you were not satisfied with the pre-sets. Introductory price for their halo halo is 98PHP.

As for the costs, my take is that it's reasonably priced. You get what you paid for. Just dont expect that you'll eat in a cozy place, cause it's not. Overall, it's still worth the try!

They also have deliveries too! You can check their website for more details. :)

Drop a comment if you were able to visit the place. I'd like more thoughts on the food.

Happy eating!

CHEAP GETAWAY: Noni's Mountain Resort, Alitagtag Batangas

June 2, 2016

Want to go somewhere that has an amazing view but is relatively kind to your budget? Then you should go ahead and visit Noni's Mountain Resort at Barangay Ping-as Alitagtag, Batangas.

Noni's is situated 1000 FT above sea level with a view overlooking the Taal Lake, Tagaytay Ridges and Mt. Makulot (yes, it's near Mt. Makulot - so if you're planning to go hike, might as well go and visit Noni's for relaxation after!).

The view as soon as you enter the Resort - breath taking, isn't it?

Take a glimpse of it's Panoramic view too-

Picturesque, ain't it?

Though it's obvious that there is no way that you can beach bum, cause it's 1000 FT above sea level, they have a pool where you can relax and cabanas where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the place. The pool is Okay - and when I say OK, it's clean and you won't hesitate to take a dip. Chlorine is not at all that strong (if you may call it. LOL!) It's jusr right below the reception area.

You also get to have a glimpse of their pets - Yellow snake , monkey and birds (I don't have a photo of the bird cage and the monkey because the cage is high and I didn't want to go up)

Now, if you're going to ask me how much is the rate of the resort?

Cabanas cost around 400-600 (not sure about this)
Adults - 200 of which 100PHP is consumable*
Children - 150 of which 50PHP is consumable*

*Consumable amount can be used to purchase food in the resort.

Their food is a bit expensive, so I would advise that you just bring your own "baons". They don't have corkage, so it's okay.

They also have a room with infinity pool. But we didn't go for that option cause we only booked a cheap get away but ofcourse, it's relatively expensive. They offer this room for an overnight rate of I think 7000PHP or more, depending on the season.

If you want to go to the lake, of course you can, but you have to sign a waiver of non liability in the resort. The lake is located 30min. away from the resort and according to the guard, the walkway can be steep, and lots of accidents already happened before.

If you want to visit, you may contact Noni's at 0917-596-0723/ 0917-587-2083 :)
